DIY - E10 Dampers

Pic above is HPI's suspension upgrade for the E10. It difinitely looks awesome but I find it to be a bit bulky and a little hard to tweak.

My solution to this problem is to make my own by combining parts from the stock E10 suspension and from another aluminum shock from a generic brand. See below for my DIY tutorial.

1. Here's the stock shock from the E10 and arrow points out exactly where to cut off. Be very careful when cutting.

2. Once the  ball end part is off use a Dremel with a cut off wheel to cut off excess shaft and to grind off to a flat surface.

3. After surface is flat. Drill a hole through from the ball end all the way through. Im sorry but forgot what size drill bit I used. Just match up the size of the drill bit to the shock shaft to get the diameter of the hole.

4. Here's the aluminum dampers I got on eBay for less than $10 a pair. Looks good and less bulky than the stock ones. The arrow is pointing to the area where you clamp down a Long Nosed Plier to hold the shaft in place. Get it as close as you can to the top thread as this will hinder the shock shaft travel a bit once you do this. This is not for the faint of heart, this why I'm using an inexpensive shock.

5. Once you clamp the plier down good, start screwing the ball end piece all the way down to the bottom of the thread. Don't forget to slip on the shock coils of your choosing.

6. Here's the final product and installed. It looks pretty good don't it...

I hope this tutorial helped you and should you have any questions, concerns, or advice just hit me up here by commenting below or get in touch with me on my Facebook page.

E10 Aluminum Brake Rotor & Calipers

Here are 2 upgrades that I truly love and improves the looks of any E10. All of my E10s have these and I love using these on Body Competitions due to the realistically of them. Pair them with a great set of wheels that highlights them and you got yourself a winning combo.

These are not only for looks as the brake rotors are durable. I've had a few of the plastic ones broke on me meaning the tabs on the backside broke off and render the rotors useless. These will prevent that from happening unless you mercilessly abuse your E10.

The aluminum calipers are awesome and the best looking ones from any of the caliper upgrades. Hands down these are the best ones so far and I have not seen one yet that compares to it.

Below is a sample installed on one of my E10s.  As you can see it truly enhances the realism of the brake and rotor kits.
If you can't directly purchase these items on its respective sites then I suggest that you search for them on Google, or Amazon and Ebay which is where I usually get mines. As always please hit me up or comment below if you have any questions or suggestions for me.

BTW... I am not sponsored by Hot Racing,  Hobby Etc., Yeah Racing, or RC Mart. I just truly believe in these products.

Hot Racing's - HPI E10 aluminum motor mounts

HET 18M07 - Drift Mount Heat Sink Motor Plate
Here's the latest Hot Racing upgrade for the HPI E10. It looks exactly like the HPI E10 alum. upgrade with the exception of the color and the chrome countersunk washer. I wonder if this one is more solid and stable than the HPI option. I would love to test this option... uh hmmm! Hot Racing *wink *wink... As you may all know I am not sponsored by Hot Racing but I do love what they have done for the E10s. They have made great products for my beloved HPI E10. I can only hope that someday I can be their tester...

HET 1801 - Rear Mount Heat Sink Motor Plate
This option right here has been out for a long time and I have this on my E10 and it is solid and stable. The name says "Rear Mount" but I have mines mounted on the front and its great. This a good upgrade and in fact one I would recommend.

*click on the item titles to be directed to the product. Im sure you can find these on ebay too.

Hawaii NNL 2013 - Review

The Hawaii NNL show was definitely a success in my opinion. So many fine builds and heavy competition. I had a blast hangin  with fellow builders from way back and new builder friends. The kids had a blast with the tracks to satisfy their boredom and a Make It, Take It build for the kis to build and have. There was also a small RC Crawler open track for the crawlers and the HSM Landrover crawler handled the track pretty well except for the high fall that cracked the bumper and fender. There were not too many vendors selling model kits which was a bit of disappoinment because I was really looking forward to buy some imports.

I want to thank all the people that stopped by the booth and took advantage of what little model kits I had.  Also for the kind compliments on the builds. The kids and kids at heart surely enjoyed the 1/24 scale Action Statics '62 & '68 Impala hoppers and 1/20 scale Explorer dancer. Hopefully next time HSM will have more and better builds.

Want to thank HIMCC, Scale Model Magazine, Gregg Hutchings, Sponsors, and all the vendors & entrants for making this event a success. Many more please...

The Hawaii Scale Models booth with products for sale and all the different types of scale models display.

The show table with lots of amazing builds. Very heavy competition.

  Felgood Customs line up.

My RC4WD Katan chassis w/ HPI Racing Landrover Defender shell. Need more detail work and major suspension tweaks.

My 1969 Camaro Pro-Street dragster shell on a Parma dragster chassis. Two-tone paint job (black & chameleon).

Overdose E10 CS Kit

Finally a company that sees the light. With the countless E10 owners out there and with the explosion of Countersteer Set-ups. It is way overdue to have a CSD kit for the HPI E10. Thank you Overdose. Now how does the US market get this?...lol.

hpi.racing 2010 Chevy Camaro / Hankook

First of, I would like to thank AndyH and hpi.racing for this really generous gift. I was so honored and blessed to be one of few to have the opportunity to custom paint this shell. I don't know what I did to deserve this honor but I am taking it... thank you once again AndyH.

Now on to the Camaro.

Here's the real Chevy Camaro Hankook Tire Drift car.

And here is my 1/10 scale replica of it. Video of it in action will be done soon on my hpi.racing fully customized E10 Countersteer chassis.

Check out this link on the Team Slideways Hawaii site for more pics and details on this build.

This is the vid that I made the first time regarding the Hankook Camaro replica and my E10-CSD kit. I will have a follow up to this vid with my recent Hankook Camaro and my E10-CSD kit.

my E10 comp. chassis

My latest hpi.racing E10 chassis. Done so much to chassis and I'm not done yet. Need to get my Yeah Racing Suspension Arms and a better steering kit. This is my "go-to" comp. kit in Tandem Drift battles. I just love how this kit performs when its on but its very chanllenging when its not.

Take a peek at it and comment if you have any questions about it or if your an E10 owner and you need some tips. Hit me up. I'm always happy to help fellow E10 owners.

Project E10-CSD (update)

This should be the final set up for this project. Been tuning this kit for a while and went throug a grinded $30 Yokomo OD2.0 gear and burned a $150+ Novak ESC and finally solved it all with this. I found out that its better with a Tamiya black can brushed motor on 22t pinion gear. The top bar or rod solves the problem with the rear shaft cupjoint jumping out of alignment, and the hpi.racin Oni-Kyan adjustible arms are perfect for camber set up.

Now I just gotta fine tune it to make more controllable and figure out why it favors to kick out more on one side than going straight. Other than that its been pretty good and I love how it looks now. There is definitely more countersteering now...

I might need to mod a Yokomo prop shaft center oneway with this just to see if that helps it. Hyperdrift's SpelOner mentioned that a lot of the shaft driven CSD in the mainland are both using front oneway diff. and center oneway. Might also need to mod the Yokomo OD2.0 gear shaft to a Limited Slip Diff to help with straightaways and switchbacks...

Just visit regurlary for more updates on this ongoing project either here or at www.hawaiiscalemodels.com in the Drift Section under Countersteer.

Yeah Racing's hpi.racing E10 alum. steering kit

This is Yeah Racing's aluminum steering kit upgrade for my favorite RC Drift kit in the world - hpi.racing's RTR E10... If you own one then you know that there are a lot of steering slop and inaccuracies in the stock plastic steering kit. This will definitely give your E10 a better and more responsive steering and looks super cool too. I give mad respects and props to Yeah Racing for paying attention to what the E10 owners need... go visit there site and check out all the goodies for the E10. I promise you, you will hate me for it...(in a good way). You can get these items at RC Mart if you are buying anything less than 10 of each because in Yeah Racing's site, you can only order in 10s.

Pimped out JDM E10

I saw this on Yodo's Drift Blog of HPI Japan... so jealous, I don't know if its his or someone elses but I got all sick when I saw it. Its so pimped out. This E10 got all the goodies that HPI Japan offers from its Options line. Thought I'd share.
